Kate's Favorite Book

Okay, so maybe Oh, Baby, the Places You'll Go! A Book to Be Read in Utero is Kate's ONLY book so far; but if her activity level is any indication of her satisfaction with this book being read to her, then she loves it. Dad has been regularly reading it to us at bedtime for about a month or two.

Of course no one can ever really determine what's going on in there, but it seems that as soon as Kate recognizes the volume of dad's voice and the rhythm of the verse, she jiggers around to get comfortable for her bedtime story. Once she's in place she'll give a poke or kick every once in a while to let us know she's listening and enjoying story time. Who knows. She might even be giving dad a little giggle while he reads.

If you're not familiar with this short book, it is adapted by Tish Rabe from the works of Dr. Seuss and introduces baby to the many Dr. Seuss characters that she will soon meet. What we enjoy most about the book, though, is that it lets us speak directly to Kate (in clever rhyme) right up to the very last line: It's a scrumptulous world and it's ready to greet you. And as for myself...well...I can't wait to meet you!

I hope you don't mind me throwing in a comment, but it's all just too sweet not to. Warms my heart to read all the new things going on with the Maier family. Many smiles for you guys! Posted by: Nuvia at August 12, 2003 02:21 PM
There is nothing better than getting into the habit of reading to or having our children read to us. It is my fondest memories in life. Posted by: Nana Carol at August 15, 2003 08:11 PM
Jillian and I loved reading this book. We always cried when we got to the last line. Well, at least I did. Enjoy these special times. :) Posted by: Kristen at August 18, 2003 02:19 PM
I agree with Nana Carol about reading. Make it part of the going to bed routine and you're kids will love to read... with you and on their own. Posted by: Tamar at January 27, 2005 12:12 AM
