Grandma Maier

Sunday afternoon Kate's grandma, Clarissa Maier, lost her battle with cancer. For those of you who don't know, this past March Clarissa was diagnosed with late stage (Stage IV) colon cancer that spread into her liver.

Although the next few days and months will be very difficult for our family, we are grateful for the time we were able to share with Clarissa following her diagnosis. We were especially lucky to have a wonderful Thanksgiving together. Unfortunately, her health increasingly deteriorated each day after. She was admitted to the hospital Friday afternoon and slipped into a coma early Saturday morning. She peacefully passed away Sunday with her family by her side.

We miss her already. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers through this extremely difficult time.

We are very sorry for your loss. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Let me know if you need anything. Posted by: Kristen at December 6, 2004 11:38 AM
My mother passed away of breast cancer on 11/09/2001. The saddest part is that she never had a chance to meet our son. I think Kate was TRULY meant to come at the time she did. She kept her happy in her time of sadness! I think that Grandma Maier will be Kate's Guardian Angel forever. They say when ever there is a death there is always a who knows #2 might be right around the corner! (You don't know me, I live in NJ, but I have been following your blog for quite some time) I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers! Posted by: Alyson at December 6, 2004 12:05 PM
