What's cute and silly and red all over?

Eleven days following her MMR vaccine and Kate has developed a rash on her torso and limbs. The doctor's office told me it is just a side effect of the shot and not to worry about it unless it lasts longer than 5 days.

When it first appeared last night I looked everywhere online for pictures of what "the side effect rash" would look like. I found nothing. Just in case there's another worried parent out there searching...this is what it looks like.

Thank you for posting that picture. I've been looking for pics of rashes on toddlers and this was the first one I found! Imagine that. I hope your daughter's rash cleared up quickly. Posted by: Cathy at July 21, 2005 01:43 PM
Thanks a bunch for posting that picture. My daughter had the MMR vaccine 10 days ago and today she's spiked a fever of 102.5 and has the little red bumps on her chest and back...looks just like the ones in the pic of your daughter. I've been searching for a picture of what the side effect rash looks like, and thanks to you..I've got a very good idea. Posted by: Renee at July 25, 2005 03:17 PM

Thank You. My son had his MMR vaccine 10 days ago and just broke out in a similar rash. The only picture that came up under reaction to MMR vaccine was your little girl!! Thanks Posted by: Deborah at September 26, 2005 12:53 PM
Thank you so much for the information and picture. I thought that my son had Chicken Pox. He had the MMR shot exactly 10 days ago. You made my day a lot less stressful. Posted by: Amy at November 17, 2005 03:09 PM
Thanks Jean-Marie! My husband and I just had our scare and this was the only picture that showed up in our search. Our daughter never had a reaction to the MMR, but our son did. Thanks again for relieving some stress out of our day! Posted by: Anne at November 26, 2005 10:50 PM

Finally! I'm another mom who couldn't find pics of the MMR rash until I found your site. I think that's what my little one has. I appreciate it! Posted by: Beth at February 11, 2007 08:16 PM
Thank you so much for posting this picture! We've looked everywhere for pictures of what the rash following the shot looks like, and this is the only one we've found. Our son's rash looks just like this, and the picture really eased our minds! God Bless! Posted by: Rachael at February 22, 2007 10:03 PM
Thanks for your photo! Our son had his MMR shot 16 days ago and has the same rash. Thank goodness for the internet!! Posted by: Kellie at July 6, 2008 12:30 PM
Thank you! Just like the others I was looking for a real photo or the rash after a MMR shot. Right now there are only random on the back and neck but, enough to make me wonder. It has been less than a week since the MMR so, at least I will not worry when it fully develops! Thanks again Posted by: Cameron at October 5, 2008 08:37 PM
Thanks so much, this is the only photo out there, my son had MMR 8 days ago and has fever and rash but the rash doesn't look like your daughters.....I wonder if his symptoms are viral???? hmmmmmm again, THANKS!!!! Posted by: Christine at October 10, 2008 07:19 PM

Thank you for posting this picture the only picture I have been able to find, My son had a reaction to the MMR 7 days after getting the shot. We took him back to the DR. and they told us it wasn't a reaction to the shot but a food allergy, funny that he has been eating the same food for 12 months with no problems. The picture you posted show the same read spots my son has along with a low grade temp. Posted by: Jay at March 21, 2009 01:38 PM
